International Mother Language Day celebrated across State

As celebrated across the globe, International Mother Language Day was also celebrated in the State with the aimed to promote linguistic and cultural diversity, and to support the preservation of languages.
SENAPATI
In Senapati, PP Christian English High School, Lairouching, Senapati, marked International Mother Language Day with great enthusiasm, underscoring the critical importance of preserving and promoting native languages.
The event brought together distinguished resource persons who articulated the cultural, cognitive, and emotional significance of one's mother tongue.
At the event, P Maninga, a teacher and official of the Lairouching Women's Society, provided an insightful discourse on the history and significance of International Mother Language Day.
She highlighted that a child's first language is their mother tongue, urging collective efforts to prevent its decline.
She emphasised that the mother tongue is a person's primary identity and must be preserved with unwavering commitment.
Rajkumar Bonbon Singh, a social worker and Vice Principal of PP Christian English High School, elaborated on the pivotal role of the mother tongue in a child's mental and emotional development.
He underscored its significance in shaping identity and fostering cognitive growth.
Krishna Gautam, a teacher and entrepreneur, reinforced the profound connection individuals share with their mother tongue.
He stated that one's native language remains inherently closer than any foreign language and must be valued and safeguarded.
J Doibipa Nathanael, a teacher and entrepreneur, stressed that identity begins with language and celebrated India's rich linguistic diversity.
He noted that while English serves as the language of knowledge, the mother tongue is the language of the heart.
Addressing the endangered status of the Maram language, he urged proactive engagement, stating that it is not merely a matter of preservation but of ensuring its active use in daily life.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Ani, Education Coordinator, who reaffirmed the school's firm commitment to societal enrichment.
He assured P.P.Christian English High School will continue to organise impactful programmes benefiting both students and the wider community.
The event was a resounding success, leaving an indelible impact on students, teachers, and attendees, reinforcing the necessity of cherishing and preserving their mother tongue for generations to come.
THOUBAL
In Thoubal, International Mother Language Day was celebrated today at Lilong Haoreibi College Multipurpose Hall organised by Lilong Haoreibi College, IQAC, Manipuri Department and English Department.
The event was attended by Manipur University, English Department Head and IQ AC Joint Director, Prof Irom Gambhir Singh, Lilong Haoreibi College, Physics Department Head, A Dhaneshwar Singh, Zoology Department, Head Dr L Sanahanbi Devi and Principal, Prof Md A Sattar Shah as presidium members.
As part of the event, a Recitation Competition on Manipuri language was held and meritorious students of the college were felicitated and honoured.
Addressing the gathering, chief guest of the event, Prof Irom Gambhir, Joint Director of IQAC, stressed on the topic "Exploring the role of language in education and development" .
KAKCHING
Library and Information Centre, Kakching also celebrated "International Mother Language Day" today at its office premises located at Kakching.
The event organised by Sahitya Seva Samiti, Kakching was attended by Naorem Nopur, proprietor of Bhubon Brick Field, Naorem Chaoba, HOD of Chemistry Department, Kha Manipur College, M Kunjakesho, vice-president of Sahitya Seva Samiti and president, Y Kengba as presidium members.
