Traffic advisory issued for Republic Day celebrations in Imphal

Imphal, January 21 2026:
The Traffic Control Police Wing, Manipur has issued a comprehensive traffic advisory in anticipation of the 77th Republic Day celebration.
The regulations aim to ensure public safety and smooth movement during the full dress rehearsal and the main event, both scheduled to take place at Kangla.
The regulations will be in effect from 6:30 am on both January 24 and January 26, 2026, until the conclusion of the functions.
Key Regulations
The Southern Gate of Kangla will be exclusively used for WIP entry and exit, with parking available at the Helipad, Kangla.
The public is advised to enter on foot via the Western Gate of Kangla.
Roadside parking will be available on the stretch between Johnstone School and BT Park.
Traffic Diversions
Heavy vehicles from Lilong towards Singjamei will be rerouted towards Pisumthong, and other public vehicles coming towards Moirangkhom will be diverted towards Keishamthong Bridge.
Vehicles from Mayang Imphal Road towards Keishampat Junction shall be diverted towards Tiddim Line or Wahengbam Leikai.
Traffic from Koirengei towards Khongnang Ani Karak will be directed towards Dingku Road or Assembly Road.
Vehicles from Imphal East towards Sanjenthong and Minuthong will be diverted towards Lilong Bridge, Loklaobung, Thumbuthong, and Singjamei Bridge.
Vehicles from Uripok Kangchup Road towards Flyover Bridge and BT Road will be diverted towards Nagamapal.
Vehicles from New Cachar Road will be diverted either towards Nagamapal or Keishampat.
Vehicles from Tiddim Road towards Keishampat Junction will be diverted towards Wahengbam Leikai or Mayang Imphal Road.
Vehicles from Khoyathong towards LIC Crossing will be diverted towards Nagamapal.
Vehicles coming from Khuman Lampak and MMTA towards North AOC Crossing will be diverted at MMTA Crossing towards Minuthong.
The restrictions do not apply to authorized function attendee vehicles or emergency service vehicles.
The public is urged to plan their journeys in advance to avoid inconvenience and congestion.
