Meira Paibis of Yaingangpokpi, Thamnapokpi, Sanasabi and Santikhongbal have denounced the attempt made by the security forces to arrest village volunteers who have been at the forefront fighting against the atrocities of Kukis.
Addressing a public meeting today at Thamnapokpi Keithel in Imphal East district, Meira Paibi leader Waikhom Nungshitombi said that mothers of Manipur will never allow any attempt to arrest the village volunteers who have been working tirelessly to defend the integrity of Manipur and protect innocent civilians from the atrocities of armed Kuki militants.
She asserted that the people living in the red zone area of Yaingangpokpi, Thamnapokpi, Sanasabi and Santikhongbal have not had a single peaceful day since the conflict began on May 3, 2023 .
She urged all concerned to refrain from taking actions against the village volunteers who have been playing significant roles in defending the peripheral regions of the State in particular from the Kuki aggression.
Waikhom Nungshitombi further cautioned that if the Government fails to act as per the wishes of the people, the mothers will take up intense agitation to protect their sons.
