Prayers offered to Lainingthou Lam Ahingba; meritorious students honoured

Moirang, March 20 2026: As observed annually, devotees and public gathered in large numbers at the sacred shrine of Lainingthou Lam-Ahingba at Keinou on Thursday to offered prayers as part of the Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba observance.

From early morning, devotees thronged the sacred shrine of Lainingthou Lam Ahingba, offering fruits and vegetables and performing rituals in reverence to Lainingthou Lam Ahingba, marking the auspicious occasion.

Later in the evening, the Lainingthou Lam Ahingba Meritorious Awards distribution was held at the Lam Ahingba Lampak, organised by the Lam Ahingba Thougal Lup.

The function was attended by Wangkhem AC MLA and CLP leader K Meghachandra Singh; president of Lainingthou Lam Ahingba Thougal Lup, W Homeshor; former MLA of Oinam AC, L Radhakishore Singh; former MLA of Kakching AC, Y Surchandra Singh (IAS); Wayel Kati editor Hemanta Kumar Ningomba; MITC/UTC, CAU Imphal, Coordinator and PI/Nodal Officer of ICAR-IIOR, Prof Thokchom Robindro Singh; secretary of an organisation, Naorem Ratan; Social Activist Lamyanba Epu; KSA president Seram Meitei; DESAM president Oinam Romesh; AIMS president Longjam Thonglen Meitei; among others as presidium members.

As part of the event, a total of 52 meritorious students from various institutions under the Panchayat were awarded cash prizes and mementos in recognition of their academic excellence.

Additionally, six sportspersons who brought laurels to the State at National and International levels were also honoured.

An Excellence Award was also presented to Dr Nameirakpam Pramo, who recently earned a PhD in Philosophy in 2026, acknowledging the scholar's academic achievement.
