Imphal, September 18 2026: On the charge of assaulting and threatening the life of a minor girl, Special Judge POCSO Imphal East has sent a couple to judicial custody.

The couple--the biological father and the step-mother of the minor--was arrested from a rented house at Khurai after a complaint was filed on September 15 .

The prosecutor said a formal report from the school, where the child was studying, was received on September 15 .

In the report, the school authorities flagged "severe physical condition" of the child.

On examination, the victim disclosed that she was assaulted and threatened repeatedly by the accused biological father and step-mother, said the prosecutor.

The Court, after observing the submissions, remanded the couple to judicial custody till September 29 for smooth investigation.
