Imphal, February 18 2026: Residents of Imphal, are anticipating a celestial spectacle as a total lunar eclipse is set to be visible in the region on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.The event, which coincides with the Meitei calendar date of "Lamtaigi 15 ni Panba Thanil", has also prompted specific directives from local religious authorities regarding temple activities.

The Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board (LSTB) in Imphal Haying Khongban Uphong Yumphar has issued a press note detailing the eclipse timings and associated religious protocols.

The total lunar eclipse is scheduled as follows: Eclipse begins at 3:19:36 pm, peaks at 5:03:36 pm, and ends at 6:47:30 pm.

The total duration of the eclipse from start to finish will be 3 hours, 27 minutes, and 54 seconds.

The LSTB has announced that certain religious activities will be suspended due to the eclipse.

Temples are instructed to remain closed from 5:39:36 am on March 3, 2026, and all religious work must stop.

Normal activities will resume after 6:47:30 pm, when the 'namungba' period ends, allowing religious offerings to start again.
