Jiribam District Hospital Monitoring Committee suspends agitation

Jiribam, January 18 2025:
The Jiribam District Hospital Monitoring Committee has decided to suspend its 24-hour general strike which was scheduled to commence from midnight of January 17 .
This decision comes in light after the Government decided to grant some of the demands laid by the committee, said Phanjaobam Manteshori, member of District Hospital Monitoring Committee in a press meet.
The press meet held at Jiri Apunba Lup (JIMPAL) office was also attended by representatives of various Civil Society Organisations of the district.
Manteshori expressed gratitude towards the authorities for addressing some of the demands laid by the committee to elevate the status of Jiribam hospital to full bedded hospital and to appoint qualified CMO and MS.However the demand to appoint qualified CMO and MS remain unfulfilled, said Manteshori.
Manteshori set a 10-day ultimatum to the Government to address the remaining demands laid by the Committee.
If the Government fails to address the demands of the committee within 10 days, an economic blockade will be called along National Highway 37 from the next day, she added.
