Felicitation / special talk programme held at WMGC

Professor Athokpam Krishnakanta Singh, who was recently conferred the prestigious SM Naqvi Gold Medal 2025 by the Geological Society of India, Bangalore, for his contribution in the field of Petrology and Geochemistry, was honoured today during a felicitation-cum-special talk programme held today at Waikhom Mani Girls' College (WMGC), Thoubal.
Professor Athokpam Krishna Krishnakanta Singh, who is currently serving as Head of the Department of Applied Sciences, Dr Hari Singh Gour University, Madhya Pradesh, is the son of late Athokpam Kulla and late Athokpam Indrani Devi of Thoubal Athokpam.
The felicitation ceremony cum special talk programme was attended by Professor Athokpam Krishnakanta Singh as chief guest and resource person; Waikhom Mani Girls' College principal Professor H Manoranjan as functional president; and Head of Geology Dept of WMGC, Dr Hijam Pusparani Devi as guests of honour.
During the event, Professor Athokpam Krishnakumar was felicitated by the college with a citation and a Lengyan Phee, in recognition of his remarkable contributions to the field.
The event also honoured the professors of Geology Department of WMGC college by presenting simple gifts.
As part of the event, a special talk on "Petrolgenisis, Mineralization and Geodynamic Evolution of Neotethyan Ophiolites of the North East Margin of Indian Plate" was delivered by Prof Athokpam Krishnakumar Singh, who shared his research insights and experiences with students and faculty members.
