Locals protest, block road over incomplete construction of Lamshang Bridge

Imphal, April 17 2025: Locals of Lamshang staged -a sit-in protest at the foot of Lamshang Bridge and blocked Imphal Kangchup Road in protest against the failure of the concerned department to complete the construction of the aforementioned bridge.

The protest was carried out jointly by members of the 18 localities of Lamshang and its surrounding regions and no vehicles were allowed to pass the area during the protest.

In this connection, locals expressed anger at the concerned department over the failure to complete bridge which began construction 5 years ago.

Stating that it is one of the most important bridges along Imphal Kanchup Road, they shared that due to its incompletion passers-by are facing many hardships.

A team of PWD led by its Senior Project Manager came to the spot and interact with the protestors.

He assured to resume construction of the bridge at the earliest and to complete the construction within a period of 4 months.

Speaking to the media persons, a protestor by the name of Nongthombam Ongbi Tampha stated that despite the assurance given by the official, they will continue their protest until the construction of the bridge resumes.
