Imphal, November 16:
Voluntary repairing work of the road from Chandrakhong to Khonglo via Kasom Khullen being organised by Kasom Khullen Sub-Division Development Association has begun from November 14 with a hired JCB.
A press release issued by the Association reiterated that no Government vehicles will be allowed to ply on the road.
The voluntary repairing work is being taken up as the Government has failed to address the woes of the commuters inspite of several dilapidated and risky portions along the road.
The Kasom Khullen Sub-Division Development Association also decried the alleged diversion of Rs 5 crores sanctioned under ACA/SPA for development of the Chandrakhong to Kasom Khullen road to other programmes.
This is insulting to the people of the area since it was promised by the Chief Minister himself on May 4 last year, it asserted.
The Association also appealed to all organisations of Kasom Khullen sub-division to extend cooperation towards the voluntary road repairing work.
