The Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Multi-Utility Youth Centre at Loktak Lairembi Ground, Thanga-I was inaugurated yesterday marking a pivotal moment for youth empowerment in the region.
As per a statement, the ceremony was presided over by M Asnikumar Singh, Chairman of the Loktak Development Authority, Manipur, in the presence of Heisnam Sanayaima Singh, former Minister of Manipur and president of LLDO, along with respected community leaders and local youth.
In his address, the LDA Chairman highlighted the Centre's significance, noting that it was constructed under a special project by the Manipur Development Society.
He underscored that this initiative is part of Chief Minister N Biren Singh's vision, launched in 2021, to steer youth away from antisocial activities, particularly the threat of drugs.
Equipped with a gym, computer learning facilities and a 65 inch smart TV broadcasting educational and informative content, the Centre serves as a hub for personal growth and development.
It also features a large multipurpose hall for various youth-related activities.
On the occasion, M Asnikumar emphasized that the Centre, named after Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, is a tribute to his philosophy of Integral Humanism.
He further called on the youth of Thanga to actively participate in the nation-building process by harnessing their talents for positive purposes and contributing to the conservation of the Loktak Lake and its biodiversity.
The Chairman also expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the Thanga community to the Chief Minister.
