Arms, ammo recovered

Imphal, July 15 2024:
A number of arms and ammunition abandoned by Kuki militants were recovered by a combined team of Jiribam police, Assam Rifles and CRPF yesterday evening from Mongbung Kuki village after the Kuki militants launched a deadly attack on security forces killing one CRPF personnel and injuring two State Police personnel yesterday morning.
After a heavy gun fight following the deadly attack, a combined team of Jiribam police, troops of 39 Assam Rifles and troops of 87 Battalion CRPF carried out a search operation at Mongbung village.
During the search operation, the combined team recovered one M1 carbine rifle with two magazines, 336 live rounds of ammunition, 61 empty cases of AK rifle ammunition, two empty cases of 8 mm ammunition, nine empty cases of INSAS rifle, two live rounds of INSAS ammunition, one live round of SLR ammunition, 81 empty cases of 12 bore ammunition, three live rounds of 12 bore ammunition, one empty case of pumpi ammunition, one bullet proof jacket without plate, one bag containing medicine and civilian clothes and two fire crackers abandoned by the Kuki militants at around 6 pm yesterday.
The recovered arms and ammunition were handed over to Jiribam police station for necessary investigation and legal procedure in connection with a case registered at Jiribam police station relating to the deadly attack which killed one CRPF personnel and injured two State Police personnel.
