Imphal, May 15 2024:
As part of its campaign to trace the Manipuris living outside Manipur, the United Committee Manipur (UCM) organised an international cultural exchange programme at Adampur, a Meetei village in Bangladesh, today.
At the programme, UCM president Joychandra Konthoujam said that unity between Meeteis living in Manipur and outside the State is needed to strengthen the Meeteis.
"Let's defeat the Chin-Kuki narco terrorists and show it before the world that Meeteis don't like to be under anyone," he appealed.
Meeteis living across the world take Manipur as a land of God and a place of their ancestors, Joychandra continued.
Claiming that Burmese Kukis have intruded into Manipur and continue to do so illegally and started their own settlement in the State by engaging in large scale deforestation, the UCM president maintained that the growth of Chin-Kuki villages in Manipur is abnormal.
