Hq IGAR (South) celebrates 10th Raising Day

HQ IGAR (South) added yet another milestone to its glorious and splendid history as it celebrated its 10th Raising Day today.
HQ IGAR (S) was raised in the year 2004 at the historic Kangla Fort before finally re-locating at its present station at Mantripukhri.
Driven by the urge to usher in the well being of each and every resident of Manipur, the efforts of the last ten years are today visible on the peaceful streets of Imphal and other districts of Manipur.
A statement issued by the PRO of IGAR (S) informed that a large number of programmes such as Meena Bazaar and Pagal Gymkhana will be organised to mark this momentous day.
A Barakhana will also be organised with invitations extended to personnel from all the Assam Rifles Sectors and Units serving under the IGAR (South).
The event shall also witness perceptible participation by a large number of ex-servicemen of the Force hailing from various parts of Manipur which shall provide them a platform to interact on various welfare aspects and share their inspiring experiences and nostalgic memories.
The grand day took off with a religious gathering to invoke the blessings of the Almighty and was followed by a Special Sainik Sammelan wherein Major General UK Gurung, AVSM, YSM, IG AR (S) conveyed his greetings and best wishes to all ranks of HQ IGAR (South) and applauded their efforts towards creating a conducive and secure environment in the state.
He exhorted the force to strive for the well being and safety of the people of Manipur at all times.
The festivities also included a social evening organised at Officers Mess which was graced by a number of civil and military dignitaries, the IGAR (S) statement said.
The raising day celebrations of HQ IGAR (South) added yet another successful year to the annals of the history of the oldest paramilitary force Assam Rifles and completing a decade of committed service to the people of Manipur.
Since the raising in 2004, IGAR (S) has been wor-king towards welfare and harmony of the local people.
In such a short span of time, it has been able to achieve a lot and continues to strive for excellence in every field.
On its raising day, IGAR(S) takes the opportunity to reassure the people of Manipur that it is an organisation committed to the well being, safety and security of the state, it added.
