Legal awareness cum free medical camp held at Bishnupur

Moirang, September 14 2025: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Bishnupur, in collaboration with Legal Aid Clinic, Thanga Karang, and CMO Bishnupur, organised a legal awareness programme on the POCSO Act and Child Marriage cum free medical camp at Laisoi Relief Camp, Bishnupur.

The programme was held under the initiative of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), and under the sponsorship of Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA).

The programme was attended by District & Sessions Judge Bishnupur cum Chairman DLSA Bishnupur, Samom Ibjen; JMFC/Civil Judge Jr Division Bishnupur, Rajshree Yambem; Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel Bishnupur, Y Ramananda Singh; and Paediatrician CHC Moirang Dr RK Naresh Singh, as presidium members.

Y Ramanda Singh, Legal Aid Defence Counsel Bishnupur, delivered talks on the POCSO Act and child marriage related issues, highlighting steps and actions to be initiated to prevent crimes against children below 18 years.

Samom Ibjen, District & Sessions Judge stressed that the programme was organised to educate the IDPs of the relief camp on the legal rights and benefits under POCSO Act and to create greater awareness on combating child marriage.

As part of the event, a free medical camp was also organised, led by Dr RK Naresh Singh, Paediatrician of CHC Moirang, with a team of doctors from gynaecology, ophthalmology, psychiatry, and general medicine.

The team provided free consultations, medical checkups, and distributed essential medicines to the camp residents.
