78th Manipur Independence Day celebrated

The 78th edition of Manipur Independence Day was celebrated in the State, by hoisting flags which represent Manipur in different places, today.
The Rural United Clubs Organisation (RUCO) under the aegis of All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO) celebrated the Manipur Independence Day by hoisting the Manipur Flag imprinted with Ebudhou Pakhangba at Phayeng Lamkhai Community Hall today.
It was attended by Ningthoujam Toyai, khullakpa, Phayeng Awang Leikai; Khaidem Heramani, president, Imphal West Clubs; T Gandhi, vice president, AMUCO; Angom Gojendro, Pradhan, Phayeng Gram Panchayat; Khundrakpam Lokendro, president, RUCO and Chungkham Pakpi, president, Women Wing as presidium members.
At the event, Lokendro said that August 14 is observed as the independence day of Manipur to remember the day when Manipur gained freedom from the British colonial rule.
Moreover, Dalit Sahitya Academy, Manipur, India, also celebrated Manipur Independence Day at Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul today.
It was attended by Babina Group Manipur, chairman & managing director, Dr Th Dhabali Singh; Bhartiya Dalit Sahitya Academy, India, national secretary, Dr Yumnam Mahendrakumar Singh and Department of Art & Culture, retired Assistant Director, Haobam Chitra as presidium members.
Patriotic poem recitation and presentation of awards in the memory of Dr BR Ambedkar were the main highlights of the event.
Similarly, the 78th edition of Manipur Independence Day was also celebrated at the General Headquarters of Universal Friendship Organisation (UFO) in Chingnungkok today The event commenced with the unfurling of a flag imprinted with Ebudhou Pakhangba followed by paying floral tributes to the leaders of UFO.
It was attended by UFO vice president RK Sanaparihal, secretary general Y Meiraba, finance secretary L Tairen, Meira Paibi Changrangpat secretary Maisnam Manglembi Devi, battalion commanders, general secretaries and other members of UFO.
