Imphal, August 13 2024: Lamlai AC MLA Kh Ibomcha inaugurated a 14-day State Handloom Expo at Nilakuthi Urban Haat in Imphal East, today.

The expo which will continue till August 26 is organised by Manipur Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation Limited (MHHDCL) under the theme "My Handloom, My Pride-Khadi for Nation, Khadi for Fashion".

Development Commissioner (Handloom) of the Ministry of Textile is sponsoring the expo.

Speaking as the chief guest, Kh Ibomcha, who is the Chairman of MHHDCL, said that both the Central and the State Government have been taking up different initiatives to promote the artisans along with the handloom and handicraft items of the State.

Saying that the Government is working to introduce Chief Minister's Yam Scheme to provide 30 per cent subsidy to weaver in buying yams, he added that the corporation will take all the suggestions to improve the handloom and handicraft sector of the State.

Managing Director of MHHDCL E Jiten also attended the programme.
