Imphal, May 13 2026:
The Waqf Board Manipur has refuted allegations of financial irregularities, asserting that no funds have been misappropriated.
This clarification was issued by the Board's Project Officer (Admn), Md Tajuddin Shah, during an emergency meeting held at the Waqf Board conference hall in Hafiz Hatta, Minuthong on Wednesday.
Addressing the media following the meeting with staff and teachers under the Madrassa Modernization Programme, Md Tajuddin Shah labeled allegations made by a certain minority student association as baseless and unfounded.
Shah emphasized that all scheme benefits are deposited directly into the personal accounts of the intended recipients, leaving no room for the board to siphon off funds as suggested by critics.
Furthermore, he noted that the board is currently in the process of submitting its annual reports to the Government, which will provide a transparent account of all financial activities and infrastructure projects.
Addressing specific rumors about the illegal appointment of teachers on a contract basis, the Project Officer stated that no such appointments have been made directly under the Waqf Board's authority.
He clarified that under the Madrassa Modernization Scheme, school managing committees in four specific schools hired local teachers using committee funds to prevent the scheme from failing.
He cautioned against the spread of misinformation that could tarnish the reputation of the board and urged interested parties to seek clarification directly from the office rather than relying on unverified reports.
The event was attended by several prominent figures, including Md Aslam Khan, Vice Principal of Sunrise Public School; Md Riyajuddin, Vice Principal of Khelakhong Khongjil High Madrassa; Md Islauddin, Vice Principal of Madrasa Jamiul Islam; and Haji Arshad, Vice Principal of Ehsas Standard High English School.
