Poster campaign for "disturbance-free education zone" launched in Thoubal

The poster campaign for "disturbance-free education zone" in the State was launched for Thoubal district today in front of New Era Higher Secondary School at Thoubal Wangmataba.
The poster campaign was launched under the aegis of the Coordinating Committee on Disturbance Free Educational Zone Demand, an apex body of various student and teacher bodies.
Since 2008, the committee in collaboration with other organizations has been striving to make the education sector free from all forms of disturbances to foster a healthy academic atmosphere for the students.
Speaking at the launching event, Private School Development Council Thoubal District secretary Jotin Salam appealed to all to refrain from hindering the functioning of the education sector and not to impose unreasonable demands on educational institutions and relevant bodies.
Highlighting the need to make education a disturbance free zone, he urged all to make concerted efforts to achieve the cause and raise awareness among the masses about the importance of smooth functioning of the education sector.
He also raised the need of formulating an effective education policy as per the current standard by the Government to ensure that the education sector remains unhampered by any form of issues or concerns.
The key demands of the campaign include not to impose unreasonable demands to educational institutions by any form of organizations; not to politicise education sector; formulation of a strict policy to maintain 220 academic days in a year; Government should ensure that the students remain undisturbed from external factors and education sector should be unhindered by corruption, nepotism or favouritism.
As a part of the campaign, posters listing the above demands were pasted in educational institutions and public places.
Today's launching programme was also attended by DESAM Head Office secretary general Nongthombam Thoithoiba, District president Laishram Rakesh and members of Private School Development Council (PSDC) Thoubal District, founder of various, teachers and members of DESAM Thoubal District Council.
