'Let children learn, not earn': CDI Imphal marks World Day Against Child Labour

The Centre for Development Initiatives (CDI), Imphal observed World Day Against Child Labour 2026 on Friday at D'Regina English High School, Chingmeirong, alongside staff and students.
The programme followed the theme, "Red Card to Child Labour: Fair Play for Children, Decent Work for Adults".
Held with strong enthusiasm, the event underscored the commitment to safeguard children's rights, eliminate child labour, and ensure every child enjoys a safe, healthy, and dignified childhood.
Speakers stressed that decent employment and social protection for adults are crucial to prevent children from being forced into labour.
The programme opened with a welcome address highlighting the day's significance and the urgent need to protect children from exploitation.
Participants were sensitised on the harmful effects of child labour and the importance of universal access to quality education.
Students and teachers carried posters with messages including "Say NO to Child Labour", "Every Child Deserves Education", "Let Children Leam, Not Earn", and "Stop Child Exploitation".
The observance concluded with a collective pledge to build a society where every child can leam, play, and grow in a safe environment free from exploitation.
