As observed across the globe, World Mental Health Day was observed across the State to raise awareness regarding mental health issues, reduce societal stigma and mobilise collective support for emotional well-being.
The theme for World Mental Health Day 2026, "Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change", highlights the importance of acknowledging personal narratives, active listening and fostering supportive ecosystems to drive meaningful well-being.
Assam Rifles
Assam Rifles observed World Mental Health Day today by organising community engagement activities at Pangaltabi Chingkha village in Imphal East district, alongside a comprehensive awareness session at Modi in Chandel district, highlighting mental resilience, stress management and mutual support across operational environments and civilian communities.
Aligning with the objectives of this year's theme, events tailored for both civil populations and serving force personnel in Manipur were organized, said a statement by the Assam Rifles.
To mark the occasion, a yoga and relaxation session was held at Pangaltabi Chingkha village drawing participation from individuals, including local villagers and Assam Rifles personnel, who practiced yoga and stressmanagement techniques designed to improve physical fitness, emotional stability and overall mental wellness while reinforcing community bonds.
Meanwhile, at Modi in Chandel district, an awareness session was conducted for 52 Assam Rifles personnel by the Chief Medical Officer.
The session focused on early stress detection, emotional resilience, positive coping mechanisms and the vital operational role of the Buddy Pair System in fostering trust, mutual support and sustained force morale in high-demand environments.
Indian Army
On the occasion of World Mental Health Day, the Indian Army organised a mental health awareness programme at Kulbung Church, Kulbung Village, in Churachandpur district.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents across various age groups.
A professional medical team conducted an informative lecture on mental health, highlighting the causes and effects of stress, anxiety and depression, along with practical measures to manage these challenges.
The programme also featured a Yoga session to promote mindfulness, emotional balance and inner peace.
The event culminated with the distribution of first-aid medical kits, said a statement by the Indian Army.
Tengnoupal
World Mental Health Day was observed today at Molnoi Village in Tengnoupal district organised by the Centre for Women and Girls (CWG), in collaboration with Central Church, Molnoi Area, Kuki Baptist Convention (KBC) No 16.The observance was held under the theme "Lived Experience" with the tagline "Better Minds, Stronger Communities, Brighter Tomorrows" to promote mental health awareness, encourage open conversations, reduce stigma and highlight the importance of listening to and valuing lived experiences.
The programme commenced with a formal session at the Church Campus, Central Church, Molnoi Area, KBC No 16 .
Delivering the keynote address, Hechin Haokip, Executive Director of CWG highlighted the importance of mental well-being and stressed the need to break the silence surrounding mental health issues and to normalise seeking help for mental wellbeing, especially during this time of conflict.
Participants also shared their experiences and emphasized the need for empathy, understanding and inclusive support within families and communities.
The formal session was followed by slogan writing and painting competitions and fun games.
Later, a mass rally was conducted from the Church Campus, Molnoi Area, KBC No 16 to Khulmi Public Ground.
The observance was graced by Guru Rewben Mashangva, Padma Shri Awardee-2021 & National Tribal Awardee-2011, Colonel Atul Parashar, Commanding Officer, 10 Assam Rifles, chiefs of neighbouring villages and prominent church leaders as special guests, with active participation from a large number of women, girls, youth and community members.
