'Ibobi government has no concern for common people'

Attacking the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh led Secular Progressive Front (SPF) government in the state, National spokesperson of BJP Prakash Javadekar has asserted that the indifferent attitude of the government to the 100 days long economic blockade along the National Highways has showed that it has no concern for the people.
Javadekar, who was one of the presidium members in a day-long 'Intellectual meet of Manipur vision, 2025 organised by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Manipur Pradesh at Classic Hotel here today, observed it is surprising to know that economic blockade has been going on for 100 days along the National Highways in Manipur, and what is even more surprising the imposition of this thing called counter blockade.
It was only yesterday that Chief Minister Ibobi thought of beefing up security measures along the National Highways to ensure transportation of essential goods for the people, Javadekar pointed out, and questioned what Chief Minister Ibobi has been doing for the last 3 months.
Contending that the level of corruption in Manipur has reached the highest point, Javadekar observed that no work could be possible without greasing the palm of the officials today.
On the issue of insurgency, the BJP National spokesperson said that there are numerous UG groups in Manipur and the shops and other business establishments are forced to shut down on account of UG threats and extortion demands.
Even the police, who are supposed to protect the people, go to hand over money to the UGs.
He went on to point out that when anything happens in Jammu & Kashmir, an all parties delegation is always send instantly to look into the matter.
But no one has come to Manipur despite the supply line of the people remaining cut off for more than 3 months nor has the centre given any attention.
Javadekar informed that a large number of BJP leaders would be coming to Manipur next month to take stock of the prevailing situation.
Maintaining that Manipur is a place which has great potential for development in every aspect, Javadekar expressed optimism that Manipur would one day would surely become a hub South East Asia, because the people here are very hard working.
He also noted that Manipur was an independent kingdom and it has it own history and culture.
For translating the Vision, 2025 being discussed today into action, able leaders are required and BJP would be extending every possible help in this regard, Javadekar said, while appealing for collective efforts towards improving their current lots.
Former Union Finance Minister and current MP in Lok Sabha Yashwant Sinha, who was also present at the occasion, observed that 50 percent reservation of seats under Panchayati Raj has already been implemented in some of the states and the same should also be implemented in Manipur.
The present reservation of 30 percent seats is too low.
He also noted that no part of the country has ever witnessed imposition of blockade for 100 days and this is indeed a serious crisis.
The government of India and Manipur should take up all possible measures towards lifting the blockade and ensure airlifting of all the essential commodities of the people.
Furthermore, he assured that pressures would be exerted on the Prime Minister for sending an all party delegation to Manipur soon and the issues of Manipur would be raised in the upcoming winter session of the Parliament, both in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.
Zonal Organisation Secretary (Northeast in-charge) of the party P Chandrasekhar Rao, President of BJP Manipur Pradesh Sh Shantikumar Sharma and retired Col Haobam Bhuban were also present in the dais as Presidium members at the meet during which many resource persons and experts shared their views on Vision, 2025 .
