Mahila Jansunwai to address women's grievances across Manipur

Imphal, March 08 2026:
The Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) and the National Commission for Women (NCW) are set to organise a "Mahila Jansunwai" (Women's Public Hearing) across five districts of Manipur from March 9 to March 13, 2026 .
The initiative commemorates International Women's Day and aims to reinforce the collective commitment towards women's safety, dignity, and access to justice.
The program will provide women with a direct, accessible platform to voice their grievances and seek institutional support, addressing complaints related to domestic violence, workplace harassment, maternity benefits, abandonment, trafficking, and other forms of gender-based injustice.
Dedicated benches comprising the Chairperson, Members, Member Secretary, Legal Advisors, Advocates, and officers from local administration, police authorities, and legal experts will be present to ensure immediate hearing of complaints, registration and escalation of serious cases, legal guidance, and time-bound follow-up mechanisms.
Walk-in complaints will also be heard during the event.
The Mahila Jansunwai will be held at the following locations: Imphal West at Kombirei Hall, DC Office Complex, Lamphelpat on March 9 at 11 am; Imphal East at EYCA Community Hall, Porompat Kshetri Leikai on March 10 at 11 am; Thoubal at Counting Hall, DC Office Complex on March 11 at 11 am; Tengnoupal at Khunbi Community Hall on March 12 at 11 am; and Chandel at Multipurpose Hall, DC Office Complex on March 13 at 11 am .
