Imphal, October 07 2026: Prof Kananbala Sarangthem, Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University of Culture, and Dr Pukhrambam Lilabati Devi, Assistant Professor, Department of Dance and Music, Manipur University, were felicitated during Ritu Mangaa - festival of Manipuri Solo Dance organised by ex-students of JNMDA, Imphal on Monday.

Prof Kananbala was felicitated on her appointment as VC of MUC.

She is the first woman to be appointed as a regular Vice-Chancellor among universities based in Manipur.

Before taking charge, she served as Professor and Head, Department of Botany, Manipur University.

Dr Lilabati Devi was honoured for being conferred the National Award to Teachers of Higher Educational Institutions and Polytechnics-2026 .

After felicitation, she presented "Samodara Damodara & Krishna Vandana" .

Th Biswajit Singh, MLA Thongju AC, attended as chief guest, retired IAS officer Radhakumar Singh, Prof Kananbala Sarangthem and SNA awardee S Noyonshakhi Devi as guests of honour, while L Joychandra Singh, Vice-Chairman, JNMDA, presided.

Solo dance presentations by Kangjam Kalyani Devi, Dr Pukhrambam Lilabati Devi, Yangambam Sarita Devi, Dr Tejpati Devi and Dr Ngangbi Chanu marked the festival.
