Electoral roll Observer reviews SIR process in Noney

Noney, August 07 2026: Electoral Roll Observer and Additional Chief Secretary (TA & Hills), Vivek Kumar Dewangan, IAS, on Friday reviewed the progress of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll during his visit to Noney district.

On his arrival at the District Election Office (DEO), Longmai, the Observer was received by Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer, Noney, along with the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) of 54-Nungba (ST) Assembly Constituency.

During the review meeting, Dewangan conducted a detailed scrutiny of the revision process by examining 20 applications each under Form 6 (inclusion of names), Form 7 (objection/deletion of names) and Form 8 (correction or shifting of entries) to assess the quality, transparency and accuracy of the verification process.

The Observer also interacted with representatives of various political parties at the DEO Office, Longmai.

He emphasised the importance of active participation and cooperation from all stakeholders to ensure that the electoral roll remains accurate, inclusive and error-free.

Political party representatives shared their observations and assured continued constructive support during the revision process.

Highlighting the importance of public participation, Dewangan urged eligible citizens to make use of the hearing programme being conducted from August 5, which will continue until September 2, 2026, to address claims and objections related to the electoral roll.

The visit reaffirmed the Election Commission's commitment to conducting a transparent, participative and comprehensive revision of the electoral rolls, ensuring that every eligible citizen has an opportunity to be enrolled while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the electoral database.
