'Phambal Kaba' premieres at JNMDA

Imphal, July 07 2026: A dance drama titled "Phambal Kaba", produced by Sidaba Culture Foundation under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture, was staged today at the JN Manipur Dance Academy auditorium.

The production was presented by artistes trained during a summer workshop on dance, music, theatre and martial arts conducted by the Foundation from June 10-11.Attending as chief guest, Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Th Satyabrata said staging 'Phambal Kaba' at a time when the State is going through unrest and uncertainty is very significant.

He stressed the need for thoughtful collective effort to overcome the present crisis, adding that peace cannot be achieved without mutual trust among the people.

The Speaker further expressed hope that the performance would be well-received by the public and said such events can play a meaningful role in inspiring the youth and promoting goodwill.

Dr Manju Elangbam, director and choreographer of 'Phambal Kaba' and Head, Department of Music, Government Home Science College, Chandigarh, said the production explores the theme of power struggle in society.

The programme was presided over by Manipur University of Culture Vice Chancellor Prof P Gunindro, with MUC Registrar L Radhakanta attending as guest of honour.

Certificates were also distributed to the participating artistes.
