Senapati, February 06 2025:
Former Vice Chairman of ADC Senapati, LK Kasaso has appealed to relevant authorities of the Manipur Government to address the pressing issue of water scarcity in Laii village.
Situated 143 km away from Imphal in Senapati district and bordering Nagaland, Laii village is facing a severe water crisis which is directly impacting the sanitation, health and education in the village.
In a release, LK Kasaso has expressed concern over the miserable condition of Laii village dwellers owing to non-availability/scarcity of water in the village.
He stated that even though two water supply schemes were constructed by the Government in 1976 and 2017, there is not enough water from the two sources.
Additionally, the recent construction of a 2-lane road connecting Tadubi to Ukhrul has damaged the pipeline of the 1976 water supply scheme.
"The village has 3 clans, and as per a recent order issued by the chairman of the three clans, it was announced that only 2 buckets of water are to be provided to small families and 4 buckets to bigger families as daily quota.
Thus, the villagers travel a long distance and collect water from rivers for washing and other purposes," said Kasaso.
Therefore, seeing the plight of the villagers, LK Kasaso has appealed to the authorities concerned to take necessary actions so that the public of Laii village would have easy access to one of the basic necessities of life.
