Training begins for Enumerators & Supervisors of Census 2027 Phase 1 (HLO) Pre-test Urban

Imphal, November 05 2025: A 3-day training of "Enumerators & Supervisors for Census 2027 Phase 1 (HLO) Pre-test Urban" began today at the conference hall of Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC), Imphal.

The training programme was organised by the IMC, Principal Census Officer, Imphal in association with the Directorate of Census, Manipur.

The inaugural function was graced by dignitaries, including Thounaojam Chitra Devi, Director, Directorate of Census, Manipur; Kiyam Chandrakumar, Principal Census Officer (Urban) & Imphal Municipal Commissioner, Charge Officer (Urban); Thoudam Sony, Additional Municipal Commissioner, IMC; and Dr Ningombam Roshini Kumar, Joint Director, Directorate of Census, Manipur.

Speaking on the occasion, Kiyam Chandrakumr exhorted the Supervisors and Enumerators who have been engaged for the upcoming PreTest exercise in IMC Ward No 16 (Chingamakha) to try and collect only the genuine information from the public.

Seeking public support for the Pre-Test, he said that the Census, initially to be conducted in 2021 was postponed due to the Covid pandemic.

"The 1st Phase of the Census will be carried out between April-September 2026", said Chandrakumar while adding that the State Government is making efforts to conduct the house listing & housing census soon.

He also shared that the 2nd phase of population enumeration will be carried out from February 9 to 28, 2027 and the revision round will be done from March 1-5, 2027 .

"Enumeration will be carried out as part of the Pret-Test in IMC Ward No 16 (Chingamakha) for Urban area and four selected villages in Ukhrul district for Rural area from November 10 to 30, 2025", said Chandrakumar while adding that self enumeration for the selected areas started from November 1 and will continue till November 7.Furthermore, Chandrakumar shared that the training for Enumerators and Supervisors of Urban areas is being done at IMC Imphal and for Rural areas at Ukhrul.
