Police arrest nine cadres of an outfit

Imphal, October 05 2026:
Imphal West Commandos and Kakching district Commandos arrested 9 alleged cadres of PREPAK-Pro in different operations yesterday.
Among the arrested persons, two women were allegedly involved in a bomb blast that occurred at the residence of MLA Sapam Ranjan on August 28, 2026, said the police.
The two women cadres allegedly involved in the bomb blast have been identified as Yumnam Athoibi Chanu (19) of Langol Ningthou Leikai and RK Dayapati Devi alias Pinky (19) of Tangkham Maning Leikai.
They were arrested along with five other cadres by the Imphal West Commandos.
The five other cadres include a child in conflict with law.
Others are identified as Usham Rakesh Singh (19) of Langol Ningthou Leikai; Ahongshangbam Jet Meitei alias Jack (23) of Heinoupok Maning Leirak; Naorem Lanthoiba Singh (19) of Nambol Maibam Chingmang; Ayekpam Stephen Meitei (19) of Takyel Khongbal Maning Leikai, and one child in conflict with law.
During the operation, Imphal West Commandos also rescued a one juvenile from being recruited by the arrested cadres and seized one Honda Activa Moped.
The arrested persons and the seized vehicle have been handed over to Lamphel police station.
In a separate operation, a team of Kakching district Commandos arrested two alleged active cadres of PREPAK-Pro involved in recruitment and trafficking of cadres to Myanmar from different locations along the Imphal- Moreh road.
The team first arrested one Md Siddequee (26) of Sora Makha Leikai and seized one Eeco Van bearing Assam registration number and a fake Aadhaar card.
Initial investigation revealed that Md Siddequee was involved in transportation of newly recruited cadres to Myanmar.
He allegedly used fake Aadhaar cards and the seized Eeco van to transport new cadres to Myanmar, said sources.
Further investigation then led to the arrest of another cadre of the outfit identified as Shekar (45) of Nepali Basti, Moreh, Ward No 5 from Kakching Lamkhai and seized one Thar vehicle with Assam registration number.
He was allegedly assigned the task to facilitate transportation of newly recruited cadres to Myanmar, said sources.
The two arrested and seized vehicles and articles have been handed over to the Kakching police.
