Sensitization workshop on ITEP held at MU

A sensitization workshop on "Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP)" was conducted today at the Court Hall of Manipur University (MU), Canchipur.
The workshop was organised by the College Development Council, Manipur University in collaboration with Association of Manipur Teachers Education Institutes (AMTEI) .
The workshop was graced by dignitaries, including Prof Naorem Lokendra, Vice Chancellor, MU; Prof Premlata Maisnam, Dean, School of Education, MU; and Prof Dibyajyoti Mahanta, Chairperson, Eastern Regional Committee, National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) .
Teachers and students from different colleges also attended the workshop.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Naorem Lokendra said that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is a landmark reform in India's education system, aiming to transform the educational landscape by fostering a more holistic, flexible, and integrated approach.
"Teachers play a pivotal role in implementing these changes, and their professional development is crucial for the policy's success", he added.
Prof Premlata Maisnam said that the ITEP is a flagship initiative under the NEP 2020, designed to prepare teachers for the new school structure.
She continued that the programme aims to equip teachers with both subject knowledge and pedagogical skills, emphasizing a multidisciplinary approach and alignment with the NEP 2020 goals.
Prof Dibyajyoti Mahanta also delivered a lecture on the topic, "NEP 2020 and New Trend in Teacher Education" .
