Workshop on "Assessment, Evaluation and Question Setting" kicks off

A 3-day workshop on "Assessment, Evaluation & Question Setting" kicked off today at VC Court Hall, Manipur University, Canchipur.
The workshop was organised by the Examination Section, Manipur University in collaboration with UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher.
Training Centre, Manipur University.
The inaugural function was graced by Manipur University, Vice-Chancellor, Prof N Lokendra Singh; Undergraduate Examination Standing Committee chairman, Prof S Jibonkumar Singh; Postgraduate Examination Standing Committee chairman, Prof Sumitra Phanjoubam; Controller of Examinations, Tokpam Shantikumar Singh and UGC Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, Manipur University, Director, Prof RK Bhubon Singh as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof N Lokendra said that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 was introduced at Manipur University from the academic year 2022-2023 .
"Under the reformed policy, the UG and PG programs have been restructured to include a flexible, interdisciplinary curriculum.
There is now more focus on vocational, research-based, and skill-based education", he added.
He continued that according to NEP 2020, students pursuing the four-year UG programme can exit with appropriate certifications, such as certificate for first year, diploma for second year, degree for three years and honours or research with honours for the final year.
"Students will also have the option to choose between a one-year and two-year Master's programs.
One-year PG program for students who have completed a four-year Bachelor's degree with Honors or Honors with Research; and the Two-year PG program for students who have completed a three-year Bachelor's degree, with the second year dedicated to research", he added.
The VC also asserted that the new structure aims to provide students with a more holistic and multidisciplinary education that will prepare them with the skills needed to excel in the modem world.
Furthermore, Prof N Lokendra emphasized the need for dedicated effort of the varsity's Controller of Examination and relevant Committees to ensure the new reforms are implemented successfully for the welfare of the students.
