Education with a difference : KM Blooming imparting work culture to its students

Imphal, January 05 2013 : At a time when most of the schools in the State are paying attention to excellence of their students in studies and bring laurel for themselves and the Schools only, there is one educational institution which has been teaching its students the value of work culture and moral education so that they could be self-dependent and upright in life.

KM Blooming Higher Secondary School is one private educational institute which has been imparting education with a difference.

Located in Khangabok under Thoubal district, KM Blooming Higher Secondary School, a residential school, is a home to 1500 borders.

All the student-boarders are fed everyday from the vegetables grown, fishes reared and meat products produced from within the school campus which spreads over an area of 10 paris.

The manner and the system in which the principal of the school, Khundrakpam Menjor has been running the educational institute was witnessed by a selected team of media persons accompanied by members of All Manipur recognized Private School Welfare Association; All Manipur Students Guardians Organisation; PANDAM; Laininghal Naoriya Phulo Charitable Trust; Narcotic Control Bureau and Editor of Hueiyen Lanpao (Meetei Mayek), Shivdutta Luwang today.

The team came across the vegetable farm flourished with onions, garlic, mustard, cabbage, ginger, etc.

Fruits including mangoes, guava, papaya and others are also grown in the farm.

Apart from growing fruits and vegetables, the area is also abundant with flowers of different hues attracting the eyes of the visitors.

There are seven fish ponds in the campus where different varieties of fishes including Pengba, Ngaton, Rohu, Mirgal and others are reared for consumption by the student-hostellers.

The school also has a big piggery farm where around 250 pigs are being reared.

In addition to this, ducks and chickens are also reared in the farm.

The products of the farm not only serve in feeding the hostellers but the excess are often sold out in the market, informed Khundrakpam Menjor.

The Principal of the school disclosed that the school is planning to bring up a Green Market where the products of the farm could be displayed in samples.

Whosoever wants to get hold of any product will be taken directly to the farm and provide the same as freshly as possible.

He further disclosed that at present the school spends only around Rs 1000 daily for the mess of the students and staffs because of using the products from its farm.

Otherwise, the normal daily expenditure on mess could cross over Rs 10,000.This way, the school teaches its students to understand the value of work culture and be self dependent in life apart from enriching themselves with the knowledge they could gain from books.

Khundrakpam Menjor explained that he gives more emphasis on teaching his students the value of hard labour and often give examples of famous personalities who have achieved success through hard work in life.

The students are also often taken to the open field or in the garden for conducting classes instead of just confining them inside the classrooms, the principal added.
