RIMS conducts skill training on 'Difficult Airway Management'

The Department of Anaesthesiology, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, successfully conducted a one-day academic and skill training programme on "Difficult Airway Management and Ultrasound-Guided Truncal Blocks" today.
The programme, held at the Modular OT Complex of RIMS, aimed to enhance the clinical skills and knowledge of healthcare professionals in advanced airway management and regional anaesthesia techniques.
Key dignitaries present at the programme included Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS, Imphal; Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital; Prof L Rajesh Singh, Dean (Academics); Prof Gojendra Rajkumar, Head, Department of Anesthesiology; Dr Shivkumar Singh, Course Director and Consultant in Anaesthesia, University Hospital Liverpool, UK; Dr Harbajan Singh Saini, Apollo Hospital, Jabalpur; Dr Anil Kumar, KIMS Hospital, Bengaluru; and Dr Irine Bey Pi, JJM Hospital, Dibrugarh.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Sunil Kumar highlighted the department's growth and recent advancements, including improved infrastructure and cardiac anaesthesia services, noting nearly 70 cardiac surgeries and renal transplants since early 2025 .
He emphasized the importance of such programmes in bridging theory and practice and strengthening anaesthesiology services to reduce referrals.
The event featured a series of expert lectures, live demonstrations, and hands-on sessions.
The sessions were conducted by renowned national and international faculty, creating a dynamic and interactive learning environment for participants, including faculty members, HODs, residents, and nursing staff.
