Thoubal, September 03 2024:
The Meetei Community Joint Co-ordination Committee (MCJCC) has urged the State Government to deploy adequate State and Central forces in peripheral Meitei villages to ensure their protection by September 8 .
MCJCC has cautioned that failing to deploy the State and Central forces in Meitei villages in peripheral villages by September 8 would invite intense agitations from MCJCC and other clubs, organisations and meira paibis of the State.
MCJCC, which is a committee of 18 clubs and women wing from Waithou to Haokha and Thoubal Khunou in Thoubal district, made the demand in reaction to the drone attacks launched by suspected Kuki militants on September 1 which claimed the life of one 31-year old woman while leaving her minor daughter injured.
Strongly condemning the attack which also left many other injured with bomb shrapnel and bullet wounds, MCJCC asserted that the use of drones to drop bombs targeting Meitei villages and homes is a threat to international security.
Questioning the silence of the Union Home Ministry on this grave issue, MCJCC further raised suspicions about the presence of any hidden agendas.
MCJCC also lambasted the State Chief Minister while quoting his recent statement claiming that peace will return in Manipur within the next six months.
It accused "Kuki narcoterrorists" of launching a war on Meiteis to eke out a land for themselves by driving the indigenous people.
It further accused the Indian Government of being aware of these designs and seemingly siding with the other party while alleging the State BJP legislators of prioritizing their office/positions and disregarding the deaths of people and the threat to the State's integrity.
Instead, MCJCC said that the BJP MLAs should exert pressure on the Central Government and demand arrest of SoO violators; revocation of SoO agreement; implementation of NRC, fencing of Indo-Myanmar border, disqualification of 10 Kuki MLAs who are demanding separate administration etc.
If the Central Government opposes these demands then the BJP MLAs should courageously resign from BJP, said MCJCC.
