Livestock vaccination drive conducted across 7 locations in Bishnupur

Bishnupur, May 02 2026:
Livestock such as cattle, buffaloes, sheep, goats and pigs were vaccinated in seven different locations of Bishnupur district yesterday.
The vaccination programme was organised by the District Veterinary Office, Bishnupur under the aegis of the Department of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry.
It is a part of the Government of India's flagship programme launched in 2019 to eradicate Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) to protect livestock and farmers' income.
The vaccination programme held at Oinam Mamang Leikai was attended by Laishram Arunkumar, Director, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry; Dr Laishram Gojen, Joint Director, (Planning); Dr Tongbram Bidyarani, Joint Director, Bishnupur; Bishnupur Veterinary Officers Dr Takhelmayum Dolly, Dr Leibaknganbi Maibam, Dr Akham Reena, Dr Laishram Arjun and seven subordinate staff.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Laishram Arunkumar noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the programme to eradicate FMD at a farm in Mathura in September 2019.The Government is aiming to vaccinate all livestock animals in Manipur.
The vaccination drive held on May 1 marks the 7th round of inoculations.
The Director sought the cooperation of farmers to help realise the India Government's aim to eradicate FMD.
Other locations where the vaccination drive took place include Ningthoukhong Ward No 6, Bishnupur Ward No 11, Wangoo Naodakhing, Moirang Thoya Leikai, Kumbi Ward No 1 and Phougakchao Ikhai Ward No 9 .
