Director general of Assam Rifles, Lt Gen KS Yadava accompanied by his wife Meenakshi Yadava arrived at Mantripukhri yesterday.
He was received by Maj Gen AK Choudhury, who briefed the DG on the prevailing situation of the State and developmental projects being taken up by AR.
The DG honoured seven gallant soldiers with DGA Commemoration Card for their commitment and bravery of high order.
The DG today visited forward areas of Chassad, Kakching, Joupi, Sajik Tampak, Thinghat and Keithelmanbi.
The DG interracted with troops and locals of these areas and exhorted them to fight against terrorism and work together towards development of the State.
Lt Gen KS Yadava along with IGAR (South) also met Governor Gurbachand Jagat and Chief Minister O Ibobi in the afternoon.
Meenakshi Yadava, who is the president of Assam Rifles Wives Welfare association interacted with familes at HQ IGAR (S), Mantripukhri and Keithelmanbi and addressed their problems.
The president also launched various welfare projects for the families of AR.
The DG along with his wife will leave for Shillong tommorow.
