Thoubal, March 01 2026:
Manipur State Langari Association organised a reception programme today to honour the Manipuri team who secured a bronze medal at the Senior Men's National Langari Championship held from January 30 to February 1 at Sai Nagar, Maharashtra.
The programme was held at the hall of District Congress Committee located at Thoubal Athokpam.
The 12 member team and their coach and manager were presented with simple gifts and a certificate each.
The event was attended by District Congress Committee president N Lukhoi; Manipur State Langari Association president Yumnam Basant; vice president Kh Ibotombi; treasurer A Ranjit and executive member K Shyam as the chief guest, functional president and guests of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Yumnam Basanta shared that four teams from the State were originally set to compete in the National Langari Championship, but the prevailing situation in Manipur prevented them from doing so.
However, the fact that the Manipur team won a bronze medal at the Championship deserves applause and farther encouragement, he added.
"In the future, let us work with dedication to ensure that all teams preparing for the Championship will be able to compete and uplift this sport", he said.
