The All Manipur Midday Meal Workers' Union has vehemently condemned the inhumane and merciless killing of six women and children including its member Yumlembam Rani Devi by armed Kuki militants in Jiribam, In a release, the Union said that Yumlembam Rani Devi (60), Telem Thoibi Devi (31) and her daughter Telem Thajamanbi (8), Laishram Heitonbi Devi (25), her son Laishram Chingkheinganba (2), and her youngest child, Laishram Langamba (8 months) were taken hostage by Kuki militants from Jiribam's Jakuradhor on November 11 .
"The hostages were killed in captivity and their bodies were found floating in the river between November 15 and 18", it added.
The Union asserted that Yumlembam Rani Devi was a dedicated worker who provided her service at Modhupur LP School in Jiribam.
The Union urged the Government to take necessary steps to prevent such terror acts and ensure that criminals face befitting penalties proportionate to the severity of their cruelty.
Furthermore, the Union shared the grief & pain of the bereaved families and prayed for the departed souls to rest in peace.
