Imphal, June 30 2026:
The Joint Administrative Council (JAC), a joint body of the All Manipur Trade Unions' Council (AMTUC) and the All Manipur Government Employees' Organisation (AMGEO), has continued its series of meetings with Government employees posted at various Deputy Commissioner's offices across the districts to discuss the future course of action over its long-pending demands.
As part of the ongoing consultation, the JAC held meetings with the employees of the Thoubal and Kakching Deputy Commissioner's offices today, where detailed deliberations were held on the proposed steps, including possible forms of intensified protest, if the demands raised by the organisation are not addressed by the Government.
The JAC had earlier submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister and the Governor, pressing five major demands.
These include the increase of Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) at par with the Central Government employees, extension of the retirement age of State Government employees from 60 to 62 years, filling up of the sanctioned 50,000 vacant subordinate service posts through the Manipur Staff Selection Commission, reintroduction of the Old Pension Scheme in place of the NPS/UPS, and withdrawal of he order removing Saturday as a holiday for Government employees.
During the meetings, employees deliberated on the need to participate collectively in future agitations to press for fulfilment of the demands.
JAC advisor Chingtham Chandramani stated that if the Government fails to take positive steps and does not address the issues raised by the employees, the joint body would be compelled to launch various forms of agitation.
