Moirang, May 30 2025: With both the Manipur River and the Khuga canal flowing above danger level, three gates of Ithai Barrage have been opened by 0.50 metre.

Before gate numbers 2, 3 and 4 were opened today, the water level in the upstream of Ithai Barrage reached 769.82 m, above the danger level of 769.20 m.With the three gates now opened, the water level has receded a little.

Despite strong pressure from the public, NHPC could not open the barrage gates yesterday because there was no power supply and the diesel generator was not working.

The diesel generator was repaired last night and three gates of Ithai Barrage were opened by 0.50 m at around 6 am today.

At the time of filing this report, the water level of Ithai Barrage has receded below the danger level.
