Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Thoubal branch holds 23rd annual GB meeting

Imphal, December 28 2025: The Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Thoubal District Branch, Wangjing, convened its 23rd annual general body meeting on December 25 at Khorilol Sanglen, Wangjing, marking the occasion with book releases and the presentation of prestigious literary awards.

During the meeting, the Parishad released its annual literary journal "Khori Eehul" along with four other books authored by two noted writers.

The event also witnessed the presentation of the "Leitanthem Ram Singh Ningsing Sahitya Mana-2025" .

The programme was attended by principal of IRE Group of Institute, Wangjing, Dr Narengbam Rajivkumar as chief guest; Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Thoubal District branch, president Dr Yumnamcha Mahendra Kumar as functional president; and Ningol Khut, Manipur, president Khundongbam Gunamani Leima; and noted entrepreneur and writer Dr Laishram Jugeshor as guests of honour.

Among the four books released were "Moirangthem Rajendra gi Ashram Da", "Bhisma gi Wasak Ngakpa" and "Bhisma gi Aroiba Yaheep", written by noted writer Moirangthem Rajendra; and "Eerelpung Da", authored by renowned writer Bhorot Sanasam.

As part of the programme the "Kabi Leitanthem Ram Singh Ningsing Sahitya Mana", presented every two years by the Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Thoubal District Branch, was conferred upon Thokchom Dollerson of Kongba Nandeibam Leikai, for his poetry book "Utangbi gi Lamdam Da" .

The award carries a cash prize of Rs 10,000, a citation and a traditional Lengyan.

Additionally, the "Moirangthem Rajendro Ningsing Khorilol Thougalloi Mana-2025", instituted for the first time this year, was presented to six senior writers above the age of 70 in recognition of their longstanding contribution to Manipuri literature.

The awardees were Tongbram Babulal of Wangjing, Okram Mani of Wangjing, Kartik Maiba of Tentha, Saikhom Chaoba of Wangjing, Nahakpam Biren of Wangjing, and Tekcham Rameshwor of Wangjing.
