Imphal, October 28 2024: The Bethel Village Authority has denied any attack on Meitei villages from the village on October 26 .

Reacting to a report of an attack on Koutruk village from Bethel village published by this paper on October 27, the Bethel Village Authority, in a statement, said that there were no attacks from the village on the day.

The Bethel village is presently guarded and patrolled 24x7 by 216 CRPF Battalion stationed at Kharam Thadoi.

No attack ever happened from Bethel Village side on October 26, said the statement issued by the chief of the village, D Thangpum Haokip.

"Such unverified news items may escalate the already charged situation in our area," said the statement and urged all to report & publish only verified news items in future in respect of Bethel Village so that peace and normalcy can be restored in our area.
