The Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) in collaboration with Ibotombi Institute of Education (HE), successfully conducted a "One-Day Capacity Building/Training Programme For Women Empowerment" today at Kha Naorem Leikai, Canchipur.
Speaking on the occasion, Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang, Chairperson, MSCW, highlighted the pivotal role of MSCW as a platform for addressing issues faced by women, such as domestic violence, discrimination, and other forms of harassment.
She emphasised that the Commission provides women with a safe space to file complaints and seek justice for issues ranging from domestic abuse to cybercrime.
She asserted that MSCW carefully reviews the nature of each complaint before taking appropriate actions.
"When dealing with family issues, they typically begin with counselling both parties, and if the issue remains unresolved, necessary legal actions are taken", she explained.
Shedding light on the rising number of cybercrime related complaints received by the Commission, she said, "The Commission does not have the jurisdiction to act directly in such cases, they collaborate with the cybercrime department to ensure the matter is appropriately addressed" .
The Chairperson also urged all to actively spread awareness on women empowerment and serve as advocates for empowering women in their communities.
Dr RK Bijen Singh, Principal of HE, emphasised the importance of women empowerment, expressing hope for a future where men and women are treated equally.
He also highlighted the need to address political, social and economic discrimination, noting that while progress has been made, inequality still remains a grave challenge.
