MHRC team visits Children Homes in IE

Imphal, August 28 2025:
A team of Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC) led by Acting Chairperson Kangjam Khagendra Singh visited three Children Home in Imphal East district today.
As per a release issued by MHRC, the team visited the Human Empowerment for Social Integration (HESI), Khurai Nandeibam Leikai; Society for Progressive Development (SPD), Khurai Thongam Leikai; and Chanura Leikol Universal Caring Mission (UNICAM), Khurai Chairenthong Moirangkampu.
During the visit, Kangjam Khagendra Singh emphasized providing youth aged 18-25 with new skills, experiential learning, and support for economic and social inclusion to ensure they can become productive citizens and leaders of change.
He asserted that the Government should focus on this demographic, as the transition from adolescence to adulthood is a critical period for establishing independence and a stable livelihood.
He also emphasized the role of District Administration, Social Welfare, Health, Education and other departments for the welfare and fitness of the children.
He also assessed and interacted with the staff and children of the Children Homes and assured to recommend the Government about these issues & challenges.
Kangjam Khagendra was accompanied by Haobam Rosita, Secretary, MHRC; Md Ziaur Rahman, Under Secretary, MHRC; Konjengbam Anita, DCPO, Imphal East; Inspector Lokendro Khaidem, MHRC; Sandhyarani Mangsatabam, PO, SCPS; and Ayam Suraj, SDC (BO), Imphal East.
