Xtra-Edge School slams 'baseless' cheating claims, serves legal notice

Imphal, February 27 2026: Xtra-Edge School, a prominent educational institution in Ghari Awang Leikai, Imphal, has served a legal notice to the Kangleipak Minority Welfare Organisation (KMWO) Manipur over alleged defamatory statements made on February 24, 2026 .

The legal notice, issued through Advocate Maisnam Brojendas Meitei, demands an immediate withdrawal of the statements and a public apology within seven days.

Allegations of Unfair Means

According to the school, the KMWO General Secretary, Shah Wajid, made public statements alleging that students of Xtra Edge School used unfair means during the ongoing Higher Secondary Examination, 2026, conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur at the Srivan Higher Secondary School, Luwangsangbam.

The school has vehemently denied these allegations, labeling them as "completely false, baseless, unverified, and malicious", made without any official report or confirmation from the examination authority.

Reputation at Stake

Xtra-Edge School asserts that the defamatory statements have caused serious damage to its reputation, the dignity of its students, the credibility of its teaching staff, and the goodwill of the management.

The school highlighted its strong academic record, including producing numerous rank holders in past Council examinations and selecting 33 students for NEET (UG) 2025 .

The school's principal, in a separate press release, stated that the organisation's actions have "defamed the school and tarnished its image in front of the public" .

Legal Action Threatened

The legal notice warns that failure to comply with the demands within the stipulated seven-day period will compel Xtra-Edge School to initiate appropriate civil and criminal proceedings against KMWO before the competent Court of law, holding the organisation entirely responsible for all associated costs and consequences.

The notice cites potential criminal defamation under relevant sections of the BNS, 2023 .
