TYCM mourns demise of leaders, elects office bearers

Imphal, October 26 2024: The Tribal Youth Council Manipur, General Headquarters (TYCM-GHQ), convened a special meeting on Saturday.

During the meeting, Thangmeingam Awungshi was elected as the new vice president of TYCM-GHQ along with Titus Golmei as secretary of Finance Department, Manonbou as secretary of Media & Information Department and Ningpem Awungshi as secretary of Programme Department.

The Executive Council members of TYCM-GHQ also expressed their deep shock and condolence over the untimely demise of Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (Tangkhul Youth Council) president Themmaso Tallanao and assistant general secretary Masothing Mangshon.

According to a release issued by Tribal Youth Council Manipur, General Headquarters, both the leaders tragically lost their lives while dutifully carrying out their official responsibilities on October 24, 2024, near Shingcha Village junction in Kamjong district.

"Their unwavering dedication to the cause of the tribal people, even in the face of danger, stands as a powerful testament to their courage and sense of duty", it added.

The TYCM-GHQ mourned the irreplaceable loss of the two esteemed leaders, whose enduring contributions to the tribal cause will forever be remembered.

"Though their passing leaves a void that words cannot fill, their legacy will continue to inspire the tribal youth and the Tangkhul community in our collective pursuit of justice, peace, and sovereignty", it added.

The TYCM-GHQ extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed that the departed soul may rest in peace.

"Their tragic loss is a great blow to the entire tribal society, and the void they leave behind is immeasurable.

TYCM-GHQ fervently hopes that such a heartbreaking incident never happens again in our society", it concluded.
