Sardar@150 Unity March held at Kakching, Ukhrul

The Sardar@150 Unity March (Ek Bharat-Aatmanirbhar Bharat) was organised today at the DC Office Complex, Kakching, to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India's first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, widely known as the Iron Man of India.
The programme was organised by the District Administration Kakching, with support from Mera Yuva Bharat, Kakching, NSS Cell and the District Youth Affairs and Sports, Kakching.
The programme was graced by Maharaja Leishemba Sanajaoba, MP Rajya Sabha as chief guest; Rohit Anand, DC Kakching as president; along with Priyadarshini Laishram, SP Kakching; and L Maijit Kumar, State Director of Mera Yuva Bharat, Manipur as guests of honour.
Addressing the gathering, MP Maharaja Leishemba Sanajaoba highlighted the significance of the nationwide commemoration of Sardar Vallabhai Patel 150th birth anniversary, which began on October 31.He described Vallabhbhai Patel as a hardworking leader who rose from a humble background to become the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of India.
The MP urged youths and students to imbibe the values of unity, patriotism and responsibility showcased by Patel, adding that Patel dedicated his life to integrating the nation.
He further encouraged the youth to support the vision of "Viksit Bharat" and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for a developed India by 2047.He emphasised the importance of swadeshi goods, economic self-reliance and strengthening the nation's economy.
As part of the programme, floral tributes were paid to the portrait of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, followed by cultural performances.
MP Maharaja Leishemba Sanajaoba also administered the Aatmanirbhar Bharat pledge to the attendees.
Dr Okram Rudra Babu Singh, principal of Kha Manipur College, who attended the programme as the resource person, delivered a lecture on the topic "The Life and Philosophy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel" .
Later, the Sardar@150 Unity March was flagged off by MP Maharaja Leishemba Sanajaoba from the DC Office Complex.
The march proceeded through Kakching Phousupat before returning to the DC Office Complex.
The programme was attended by District Level Officers, police personnel, students and teachers from various schools in Kakching district, as well as staff from different departments.
Ukhrul
The 3rd Padyatra - Sardar@150 Unity March was organised today at Ukhrul town, organised by MY Bharat Ukhrul, drawing active participation from students, youth and community members.
The event was graced by Phami Vashi, District Youth Affairs & Sports Officer (DYASO), who served as chief guest.
Phami Vashi in his address, he highlighted the enduring contributions of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, the Iron Man of India, whose leadership, national integrity and vision for a united India continue to inspire generations.
Phami urged the youth to uphold unity, discipline and national responsibility - values championed by Sardar Patel in unifying the princely states as one nation India.
Dr Rev Fr Parvis John, principal of St Joseph College, Ukhrul, noted that MY Bharat Ukhrul has been undertaking multiple initiatives to promote youth engagement, and public awareness on social harmony and nation-building that helps to motivate and encouraged young participants to draw inspiration from Sardar's unwavering dedication to strengthening India's unity and integrity.
The march witnessed participation from students, youths, volunteers and community members including Dr Solei Luiram, Head of Department of ICAR-KVK Ukhrul; Chirmishan ASP, Range Forest Officer; Dr Rev Fr Parvis John, principal of St Joseph College and Masopham Kasar, NSS Programme Officer, Ukhrul.
Starting from St Joseph College, the unity march concluded at Awontang Traffic Point, where participants reaffirmed their commitment to national integration and community development, symbolising the spirit of solidarity and ideals of Sardar Vallabhai Patel.
