Imphal, November 24 2024:
The Struggling Women's Association (SWA) has submitted complaint reports to State and National Commissions, seekingjustice for the abduction and cold blooded murder of six women and children including an eightmonth-old infant by Kuki militants in Jiribam district.
Briefing the media today at Keishampat, SWA president Th Pramodini said that on November 20, 2024, SWA filed complaints with the Manipur Human Rights Commission, Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Manipur State Commission for Women, National Human Rights Commission, National Commission for Women, and National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, requesting them to take up necessary steps to investigate the barbaric murder of innocent women & children, and deliver justice to the victims.
She said that on November 11, Kuki militants carried out a well-organised attack on the police station, which was providing protection and shelter to the internally displaced people from Jakuradhor village, Jiribam.
"On the same day, six members of a family from the Meitei community including an infant, a two-year-old boy and an eight-year-old girl were taken hostage by another group of Kuki militants.
The hostages were killed in captivity and their bodies were found floating in the river between November 15 and 18", she added.
"The autopsy report of the hostages revealed gruesome details of their deaths.
Bullet injuries and severe trauma were inflicted by Kuki militants", said Pramodini while denouncing the failure of the State and Central Government to rescue the hostages despite the massive presence of Central Security Forces in the State.
She alleged that the State Government is more focused on silencing and subduing any public movements/ agitation instead of taking concrete steps to protect innocent civilians from the atrocities of Kuki militants, who have wreaked havoc in Manipur since May 3, 2023.Pramodini continued that SWA decided to file complaints with the State and National Commissions to highlight the cries and pleas of the people of Manipur.
Furthermore, Pramodini highlighted the need for women to learn self defence techniques and announced that SWA will be conducting Martial Arts Training in different localities and villages soon.
