National Science Day celebration kicks off

A five-day long celebration of National Science Day 2025 kicked off today at Manipur Science & Technology Council (MASTEC) complex in Takyel, Imphal.
The event is being organised by MASTEC, Imphal in association with Science Teachers' Forum Manipur (STFM), Manipur Association for the Promotion of Science (MAPS), Manipur Science Communicators' Association (MASCA), Research Institute of Science and Technology (RIST) and Generation De New Image (GENIM) .
The inaugural function was graced by Prof N Rajmuhon Singh, former Vice Chancellor, Dhanamanjuri University, Imphal; Chingakham Shachi, Joint Secretary (Science & Technology), Government of Manipur and Dr Kh Rakesh, Director, MASTEC as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kh Rakesh said that National Science Day is celebrated every year on February 28 to mark the discovery of the 'Raman Effect' by CV Raman on February 28, 1928."Every year, MASTEC has been organising the five days long celebration of National Science Day to spread awareness about the latest developments in science & technology and foster scientific temperament in students and youths", he added.
As part of the event, a Science & Mathematics Model Exhibition was also inaugurated.
53 science models and 31 mathematics models were showcased by students from different schools at the exhibition.
Science Short Play Competition and Science Behind Miracle Show were also conducted.
