Imphal, September 23 2025:
A community interaction and cleanliness drive under Sewa Parva was organised today at Sendra, with enthusiastic participation from villagers, members of Sendra Youth Club, Loktak Lake Tourism Development Cooperative Society Ltd Sendra, Wetland Mitras, and other stakeholders.
The programme was attended by AK Sinha, principal secretary and chairman of Loktak Development Authority (LDA), and Ngangom Sanajaoba Meitei, project director of LDA.
Sewa Parva, anchored in the Ministry of Culture's guiding theme "Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi" (Development as well as Heritage), celebrates the spirit of Sewa (Service) as an expression of patriotism, blending cultural pride with social responsibility.
During the interaction programme held at the Ibudhou Sendra Ningthou Laikol Community Hall, Sendra, villagers raised pressing concerns including pollution of lake water due to non-clearance of phumdis, and absence of basic amenities such safe drinking water, sanitation, children's parks, playground, community pond, community hall, anganwadi centres and tourist facilities.
As part of the programme, a cleanliness drive was conducted at Sendra, one of the prime tourist destinations at Loktak Lake.
Villagers, Wetland Mitras, and LDA officials joined hands to plant indigenous tree saplings at the Cultural Complex of Ibudhou Sendra Ningthou Laikol.
The event also witnessed a pledge-taking ceremony for the conservator of Loktak, under the theme "Cleanliness & Sustainability for a Better Future".
AK Sinha further introduced the Inland Waterways route from Sendra to Phubala to boost sustainable connectivity and promote eco-friendly tourism.
